IS A SOLAR ELCTRIC (PHOTOVOLTAIC or PV) SYSTEM RIGHT FOR YOU?
The first step to determine if a PV system feasible for you is to perform a site analysis. The most important factor to take into account when considering a PV system is whether the site is suitable for solar panels. The smallest amount of shading, whether from trees, power lines, or any other obstruction, can have a major impact on the output and viability of a solar project. A site analysis determines the amount of shading a location has, which in turn will be used to estimate the output of the system. Obviously a clear, unobstructed line from sunup to sundown is optimal, some shading maybe acceptable. It is imperative that the location has a clear “solar window” from 9am to 3pm throughout the year.
Unlimited Sun Energy uses a shading analysis tool called a SolarPathfinder to determine the amount of shading a location has. This portable tool enables us to view the amount of shading at a location for all the sun hours in the day for every month of the year. The SolarPatherfinder will help us determine if your location is suitable for a PV system, and the exact site that will provide the greatest output of a PV system.
Once it is determined that a site is suitable for a PV system, Unlimited Sun Energy can design a system based upon the customer’s needs and budget.
